WWI PROPELLER PHOTO FRAME

This World War Photo Frame made from a damaged propeller, and this one is extensively embellished using an X stamp and small dots on the smaller parts. This particular frame is one of the most highly worked props that I have seen or owned. To describe this frame I will start from the top as it shows the liberty bell with two Air Service stars underneath it. Within the wide border that circles around the actual opening for the photo,is highly decorated with the following. Top of the oval 3rd A-S-M and under that the date 19 on one side and 18 on the other side of the border. Below that is U.S. ARMY and below that is FRANCE. The reverse is plain. It must have taken an extensive amount of time and patience to produce this frame. The overall frame has a dark monologue finish to the wood, and on the reverse you can see the wooden pegs used to hold the various pieces of wood that make up the propeller. There is a section of wood missing on the right side but it appears this is what they had to work with. The size is 17” high and 8.5” wide at the bottom. This is another item that was on display in my room and never for sale. It was purchased in the mid 70’s. Condition very good ++++
